“When I asked myself what I didn’t like about my body… “
By caitlin boyle July 12, 2011
“When I asked myself what I didn’t like about my body, I had to laugh. My legs, my hips, my arms, my stomach, my face, my butt; the list goes on and on. I have always been the biggest girl in class. These are not notions that we are born with though, these thoughts stem from what we are bombarded with every day, whether it be through the media, family, school and even our friends. This type of thinking, not only from myself, but also the people around me, is so horrible for you. Most magazines make it seem like the only body type that can be considered beautiful and sexy are the thin, tall ones with big boobs. It is rare that you see a woman with a blemish or of an average weight. ‘Beauty’ sells, not reality. We need to realize that every one of us is different. If we can believe that some people can be smarter than others, or more creative, then why can’t we believe that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes? I’m slowly beginning to realize this, and I hope other people can too.” - Katie For more information, check out Operation Beautiful.
